The Bengaluru City Police Commissionerate distributed incentive awards totalling ₹58.30 lakh to 274 children of police officers and personnel for the academic year 2025-26.

The awards recognise academic achievements and are intended to encourage the beneficiaries to pursue higher education.

Awards for SSLC and PU achievers

Another 74 students who achieved 90% or more marks in the PU examination were also awarded ₹10,000 each.

The remaining 131 beneficiaries were pursuing higher education in various disciplines.

These included bachelor’s and master’s degree programmes, engineering, law and medicine.

Amounts linked to courses

According to the police, the awards were distributed from the Police Welfare Fund.

The fund-based support is meant to recognise academic excellence among the children of police personnel and provide financial encouragement for their continued education.

The incentive amounts varied according to the course pursued.

Students pursuing bachelor’s degrees received ₹20,000 each, while those studying for master’s degrees received ₹30,000.

Engineering and LLB students were awarded ₹40,000 each.

Medical students received ₹50,000.

Students pursuing advanced courses, including MD, MS and MDS, were also covered under the scheme.

The initiative is aimed at supporting the educational aspirations of police families and motivating children to excel academically, according to the source material.

By covering both students who achieved the specified SSLC and PU examination benchmark and those pursuing professional, postgraduate and advanced courses, the awards extend recognition across different stages of education.
