Auroville to establish information centres in every Indian district

Auroville to expand nationwide with district-level information centres and satellite townships

India will see Auroville Information Services established in every district, supported by satellite Auroville centres designed to spread the township's work in human unity and sustainable living, Jayanti S. Ravi, Additional Chief Secretary to the Government of Gujarat and Secretary of the Auroville Foundation, has announced.

Announcement to Group I officers

Ms. Ravi made the remarks during an interaction with a 63-member delegation of Tamil Nadu Public Service Commission Group I officers who were visiting Auroville. The delegation included Deputy Collectors, Deputy Superintendents of Police, Assistant Directors of Rural Development, District Employment and Labour Officers, District Registrars of Cooperative Societies and Assistant Commissioners of Labour.

Environmental stewardship and urban planning

As part of the orientation programme, the officers visited the Matrimandir. Addressing the members, Ms. Ravi said Auroville remains fundamentally rooted in environmental stewardship. The city's architectural and developmental framework is meticulously designed to operate in close harmony with nature, serving as a living laboratory for eco-friendly urban planning.

Governance model based on conscious servitorship

On governance and resource management, she said Auroville transcends traditional political models. Inspired by the ideals of The Mother and Sri Aurobindo, the township operates on the ethos of "conscious servitorship", in which residents voluntarily work towards individual self-development and collective consciousness.
