APSRTC MD directs focus on maintenance, revenue and passenger safety improvements

The managing director of Andhra Pradesh State Road Transport Corporation has instructed officials to prioritise bus maintenance quality, fleet availability, resource utilisation, expenditure control and revenue enhancement as the corporation seeks to improve operational performance.

Kona Sasidhar, who also serves as Department of Transport Secretary and APSRTC Vice-Chairman, issued the directives during a review meeting with executive directors and heads of departments at RTC House.

Focus on passenger facilities and welfare schemes

Mr Sasidhar called for regular assessment of passenger facilities and services at bus stations, with corrective measures to make them more convenient and passenger-friendly. He stressed that employee welfare should receive equal attention.

The new MD directed officials to focus on the effective implementation of the Stree Shakti scheme, a key component of the Super Six programme, and ensure that women passengers faced no inconvenience during their journeys. He called for strengthening field-level arrangements to provide women with safe, smooth and comfortable travel.

He also reviewed the implementation of the Divyanga Shakti scheme and instructed officials to ensure that its benefits reached all eligible passengers.

Coordination and comprehensive approach

Mr Sasidhar emphasised the need for close coordination among departments, prompt identification of field-level issues and timely resolution of problems. He urged officers and employees to work collectively to achieve the corporation's targets.

He further directed officials to adopt a comprehensive approach to improving APSRTC's overall performance, enhancing passenger satisfaction, increasing revenue, controlling expenditure and safeguarding employee welfare.

Officials made presentations on the activities, performance, statistics, progress, revenue sources and other operational and administrative matters of their respective departments during the meeting.

Joint Managing Director M. Siva Prasad, Executive Directors K.S. Brahmananda Reddy (Administration), G.V. Ravi Varma (Engineering) and Raghava Kumar (Operations), Financial Advisor and Chief Accounts Officer N. Sudhakar and heads of departments attended the meeting.
