Gwalior illegal mining raid: 6 dumpers seized in Biloua

Gwalior: Acting on a complaint of illegal mining in the Biloua crusher market, SDM Navkiran Kaur carried out a raid at around 2 am on Wednesday night along with teams from the administration, mining department and police. During the action, the team found mining activity going on at one mine, where boulders were being loaded into 6 dumpers.

The administration caught all 6 dumpers found at the spot and placed them under the supervision of Biloua police station. Further investigation has been started on the basis of what was found during the raid.

According to the administration, the action was taken after a complaint was received about illegal mining in the Biloua crusher market. SDM Navkiran Kaur reached the area with the team, and at the mine where action was taken, mining work was found to be underway. The 6 dumpers found at the site were taken into custody for monitoring, and the process for further action has been initiated.

Mining work was also found going on at another mine located near the mine where the raid was conducted. The operators there said that they had a lease for that site. After this, the administration team reached the spot and began checking the lease and other documents. The team is also examining whether the mining in that mine is being carried out within the limits of the approved lease or not.

The matter related to the crusher mines of Biloua is already going on in the High Court, and despite a ban on mining, complaints of illegal mining have continued to come up. SDM Navkiran Kaur said the night-time action was taken on the basis of a complaint. She said 6 dumpers were found at the spot, and the lease and documents of the nearby second mine are also being checked.

Monitoring is also being carried out at the checkpost in three shifts. According to sub-engineer Sanjay Dubey, who is posted at the checkpost, a large number of dumpers carrying mining material pass through from morning to evening.

During checking, the staff are verifying the dumper’s serial number, time, registration number, ETP (royalty), destination and the weighbridge weight slip. The checking staff are keeping watch in three shifts to monitor the movement of vehicles carrying mining material.
