Andhra Pradesh opens two rebuilt schools funded by private partners and corporations

Andhra Pradesh's Education Minister Nara Lokesh on Wednesday opened two government high schools in SPSR Nellore district that have been rebuilt under the state's Public-Private-People Partnership (P4) initiative, signalling the government's push to upgrade infrastructure through external funding.

Schools renovated with private and CSR funds

RSR High School in Stonehousepet, Lakshmisai Nagar, received ₹8 crore in renovation funding from the VPR Foundation, the non-profit organisation run by MP Vemireddy Prabhakar Reddy. Devireddy Sarada Government High School in Mulapet was rebuilt at a cost of ₹13.40 crore, financed through corporate social responsibility funds from Hyderabad-based real estate firm DSR Group.

The P4 model allows private entities and organisations to partner with the government in renovating public educational facilities, reducing the burden on state budgets while improving learning environments.

Minister's district tour

Mr. Lokesh, who also holds the Human Resources Development, IT, Electronics and Communication portfolios, was welcomed by Municipal Administration and Urban Development Minister Ponguru Narayana, along with several legislators including Kovur MLA Vemireddy Prashanthi Reddy, Nellore Rural MLA Kotamreddy Sridhar Reddy, Sarvepalli MLA Somireddy Chandramohan Reddy and Kandukur MLA Inturi Nageswara Rao. District Collector Himanshu Shukla and Superintendent of Police Ajitha Vejendla were also present.

After touring the renovated school premises and interacting with students, Mr. Lokesh participated in a rally and attended the unveiling of a statue of Telugu Desam Party founder and former chief minister N.T. Rama Rao. He later addressed a TDP cadre meeting before leaving for Kovur.
