Andhra Pradesh extends A4 liquor shop renewal deadline by two days to September 23

The Andhra Pradesh government has granted A4 liquor shop operators an additional 48 hours to complete renewal formalities, pushing the deadline to September 23 after receiving representations from shopkeepers.

The two-day extension for the 2026-27 excise year allows existing operators more time to pay the prescribed Retail Excise Tax (RET) and application fee required for renewal. The state had notified a total of 3,650 A4 shops for operation during 2026-27.

Over 700 crore collected so far

By September 21, three-quarters of the notified shops had made financial commitments, with 3,173 operators opting for renewal and 2,726 shops submitting full or partial payments. This represented 75 per cent of all notified outlets.

The renewal RET and application fee demand totalled ₹933.44 crore, of which ₹676 crore had been collected, leaving ₹257 crore outstanding. Separately, the annual RET demand was pegged at ₹2,454.76 crore. Against the first-quarter demand of ₹613.69 crore, collections stood at ₹441 crore, with a balance of ₹172.34 crore remaining.

Permit room collections trail targets

Permit room RET demand stood at ₹249.15 crore, with ₹62 crore collected and ₹21.20 crore shown as the balance under the initial one-third demand.

The combined annual demand across renewal RET, annual RET and permit room RET categories totalled ₹3,637.35 crore. As of September 21, the present demand stood at ₹1,630.18 crore, against which ₹1,179.63 crore had been collected, leaving a balance of ₹450.55 crore.

Eligible A4 shop operators can now complete the renewal process and submit payments until September 23.
