82-Year-Old Madurai Man Donates ₹60 Lakh and Pledges Body for Research

In an extraordinary act of generosity, 82-year-old P. Subbiah from Madurai has donated his lifetime savings of ₹60 lakh and pledged his body to medical research. The announcement was made during a public grievance redress meeting in Madurai on Monday, August 10, 2026.

Savings Dedicated to Armed Forces Fund

Subbiah, a resident of Harvey Nagar in Tirupparankundram, presented a cheque for ₹10,000 to Madurai District Collector Nishant Krishna for the Armed Forces Flag Day Fund. He also handed over a will document bequeathing his entire bank balance of ₹30 lakh, along with accrued interest, and valuables worth another ₹30 lakh stored in his bank locker to the same fund.

Pledge to Advance Medical Education

In addition to his financial contributions, Subbiah submitted a declaration expressing his wish to donate his body to a government hospital for medical education and research purposes after his death. This selfless gesture underscores his commitment to benefiting society even beyond his lifetime.
