Deputy Commissioner Rahul Pandve has directed officials to undertake phased infrastructure improvements at the Mother and Child Hospital in Yadgir city after an inspection revealed gaps in facilities and staffing.

During his visit to the hospital, situated at the old district hospital site, on Friday, August 21, Mr. Pandve interacted with mothers and attendants to verify whether mandatory services were reaching patients.

New facilities already operational

The Deputy Commissioner told the media that several modern units have been established at the facility. These include a labour room designed for safe deliveries, a Special Newborn Care Unit (SNCU) and a Pediatric Intensive Care Unit (PICU) for critical child care, and new Outpatient Department registration counters to speed up patient processing. Upgraded drainage systems on specific premises and a high-capacity power generator to ensure uninterrupted electricity during emergencies are also in place.

Despite the new additions, Mr. Pandve instructed attending officials to carry out further improvements in phases. His directives cover complete drainage renovation, overall building maintenance, better drinking water and sanitation facilities, procurement of necessary medical equipment, and enhanced waiting areas.
