The controversy over कथावाचक पंडित धीरेन्द्र शास्त्री’s alleged statement about भगवान श्रीकृष्ण has intensified, with members of the यादव समाज staging a protest in Gwalior and demanding an FIR against him. More than a hundred people took out a rally, raised slogans and submitted a memorandum at the SP office.
The protest was held on Monday after anger spread within the यादव समाज over a statement allegedly made by पंडित धीरेन्द्र शास्त्री during a कथा in Shivपुरी. The protesters reached the SP office in the form of a rally and handed over the memorandum to Additional SP जयराज कुबेर. They demanded that an FIR be registered against धीरेन्द्र शास्त्री.
The rally was organised under the banner of यादव समाज संगठन मध्य प्रदेश. The organisation’s state president, राघवेंद्र सिंह यादव, led the protest.
The protesters alleged that पंडित धीरेन्द्र शास्त्री had made a statement about भगवान श्रीकृष्ण that hurt the religious and social sentiments of the यादव समाज. They said that no कथावाचक should make such remarks while sitting on the व्यासपीठ if those remarks could create a situation of hostility and dispute in society.
मोनू यादव, the state in-charge of युवा यदुवंशी संगठन, expressed strong displeasure over the statement. He demanded that पंडित धीरेन्द्र शास्त्री use restrained language.
यादव समाज संगठन leader मुलायम सिंह यादव alleged that धीरेन्द्र शास्त्री had repeatedly been making statements that divide society. He warned that the यादव समाज would launch an intensified agitation if an FIR was not registered against him.
The protesters also warned that they would oppose his upcoming programmes. The initial demand raised by the community included action against him and a boycott of his कथाओं if action was not taken.
The dispute began in शिवपुरी and has now reached Gwalior. The objection relates to a statement made by पंडित धीरेन्द्र शास्त्री during a कथा organised in शिवपुरी recently. Members of the यादव समाज have raised objections to the statement.
The protest has now moved beyond expressions of anger over the alleged remarks. Community members came out on the streets and submitted a memorandum seeking action against the कथावाचक.
After receiving the memorandum, Additional SP जयराज कुबेर said that the यादव समाज had submitted a memorandum against पंडित धीरेन्द्र शास्त्री. He said that since the entire matter was related to a कथा organised in शिवपुरी, the memorandum would be sent to शिवपुरी for necessary action.
