Gwalior: A mother whose complaint led the police to register a kidnapping case is now being forced to visit government offices to get her daughter back. The child, who was allegedly abducted from the Gwalior bus stand, has been safely recovered by the police. However, even after the recovery, the mother has not been reunited with her child.
After the child was found, she was handed over to Matri Chhaya through the Child Welfare Committee. The mother is now struggling to bring her daughter home. She is being asked to provide proof that she is the child’s mother before she can take the girl with her.
For the poor and illiterate woman, the process has become a major difficulty. She had approached the police with a complaint after her child went missing. Now, to get the same child back, she has to establish her motherhood before officials and complete the required documents and formalities.
Mother seeks help at SP office
Hoping to be reunited with her daughter, the woman reached the SP office along with her family members. She raised her grievance before officials during the public hearing and appealed for her child to be returned.
The woman and her family members are poor and illiterate. Because of this, the process involving documents and official formalities is proving difficult for them. The family has been seeking help so that the mother can meet her daughter and take her back.
CSP says child was handed over to Matri Chhaya
CSP Robin Jain said that after the police safely recovered the child, she was handed over to Matri Chhaya through the Child Welfare Committee. He said further action was being taken for the child’s safety and according to the prescribed process.
Police officials also assured the affected mother that they would provide all possible help. The child has been recovered safely, but the mother’s difficulty has continued because she is still waiting to get her daughter back.
Why is the mother still running from office to office?
The case has raised questions about the procedures followed by the police and the child protection system. The mother had reported the child’s kidnapping, and the police later recovered the girl safely. Despite this, the mother has not yet been able to take her child home.
The central question is why the mother has to make repeated visits and provide proof of her relationship with her own child after the girl has already been recovered. The administration will now have to decide when the mother, who is caught up in documentary formalities, will finally be reunited with her daughter.
