Vizianagaram YSRCP chief resigns citing rift with Botcha Satyanarayana, likely to join TDP

Vizianagaram Zilla Parishad Chairperson Majji Srinivasa Rao submitted his resignation to YSRCP president Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy, ending his tenure as both district president and in-charge of the Bhimili assembly constituency. The resignation, attributed to personal reasons in his letter, marks a significant defection for the YSR Congress Party in Vizianagaram district.

Internal rift with former minister surfaces

Sources said Srinivasa Rao, who belongs to the Kapu community, had developed differences with his uncle Botcha Satyanarayana, former Minister and Leader of the Opposition in the A.P. Legislative Council. The nature of the disagreement was not detailed, but the family friction appears to have precipitated his exit from the party.

TDP likely destination

Srinivasa Rao is expected to join the Telugu Desam Party (TDP), according to sources. His anticipated switch comes despite his central role in delivering one of YSRCP's most comprehensive local election victories in the state.

Architect of 2019 local body sweep

Srinivasa Rao had played a key role in YSRCP's victory in the 2019 local body elections, when the party won all 34 Zilla Praja Parishad Territorial Constituency (ZPTC) seats and more than 90% of the Mandal Parishad Territorial Constituency (MPTC) seats in Vizianagaram district. His departure removes a figure who proved instrumental in consolidating the party's dominance at the grassroots level in the region.
