Jagan Promises Greater Role for Party Cadre When YSRCP Returns to Power in Andhra Pradesh

YSR Congress Party (YSRCP) president Y. S. Jagan Mohan Reddy has pledged to prioritize the party cadre in all welfare and organizational activities if the party regains power in Andhra Pradesh. Speaking at a meeting held at the party’s central office in Tadepalli on Thursday, Mr. Reddy emphasized that the initiatives under “Jagan 2.0” would be implemented through the party workers. The meeting was attended by former local body representatives, party leaders, and key workers from the Rampachodavaram Assembly constituency.

Highlighting the importance of the next two years, Mr. Reddy urged party workers to stay actively engaged with the public, identify pressing issues, support marginalized groups, and strengthen the party’s grassroots presence. Among those present at the meeting were Rampachodavaram constituency in-charge Nagulapalli Dhanalakshmi, former sarpanches, MPTCs, ZPTCs, and other party functionaries.

Mr. Reddy criticized the ruling coalition government, claiming that public dissatisfaction with its performance was growing. He alleged that several pre-election promises made by the coalition had not been fulfilled, leading to discontent among women, farmers, youth, and other sections of society.

Reflecting on YSRCP’s previous tenure, Mr. Reddy highlighted the fulfillment of election promises and governance reforms introduced by the party. He pointed to initiatives such as the village secretariat and volunteer systems, doorstep delivery of welfare benefits, advancements in education and healthcare, and increased support for farmers.

Addressing tribal welfare, Mr. Reddy noted that over 3.22 lakh acres of land had been distributed under the Recognition of Forest Rights programme during the YSRCP’s rule. He also mentioned the establishment of medical colleges, educational institutions, and healthcare facilities in tribal areas. Additionally, he accused the current government of discriminatory practices in compensating families displaced by the Polavaram project and vowed that the YSRCP would continue to advocate for their rights.

Mr. Reddy further accused the ruling government of targeting political opponents through false cases but expressed confidence in a political turnaround in the coming years. Reassuring party workers of his unwavering support, he stated that their welfare and interests would be prioritized when the YSRCP returns to power. “You stand with the people and fight for their causes. I will stand by you in every other matter,” he affirmed.
