Incubator to support start-up ecosystem at VTU
The incubator has been established by the Visvesvaraya Research and Innovation Foundation in collaboration with the State government’s K-Tech organisation.
Vice-Chancellor and VRIF president S. Vidyashankar said the facility will help strengthen the start-up ecosystem at VTU.
“Its objective is to provide a platform for innovators to nurture their novel ideas, develop technology-based solutions, and transform them into sustainable enterprises,” he said.
He said the inclusion of start-ups would help VTU-VRIF continue its commitment to “bridging academic knowledge with industry, fostering innovation, nurturing entrepreneurial potential, and building a vibrant start-up ecosystem”.
Focus on research, innovation and industry links
VRIF CEO Santosh Ittanagi said the objective was to foster research, innovation, entrepreneurship, and collaboration between industry and academic institutions.
He said VRIF, through its incubation initiatives, supports innovators and emerging start-ups through their journey, from the initial idea stage to the establishment of a business.
“Ten start-up companies, spanning sectors such as healthcare, education, language, and fashion, are setting up operations at this campus,” he said.
The development matters for VTU because the incubator is being positioned as a platform that connects academic knowledge, industry collaboration, innovation and entrepreneurship within the university ecosystem.
