Teaching job aspirants protest in Prayagraj seeking recruitment

Teaching job aspirants in Prayagraj have launched an indefinite sit-in at Pathar Girijaghar, demanding the state government issue notifications for more than 60,000 primary teacher vacancies that have not been advertised for eight years.

Protesters accuse government of criminal delay

Rajat Singh, state president of DELED Morcha, said the extended delay is severely impacting the lives of qualified candidates. "The vacancy of primary teachers is not advertised since the last eight years. This extended delay is negatively affecting our lives; we have commenced an indefinite sit-in protest at Pathar Girijaghar," Singh stated.

He described the delay as a criminal act, asserting it is destroying the valuable years of young individuals. The protesters are demanding notification and time-bound recruitment of at least 60,000 teachers in government schools. Candidates are coordinating their protest through social media platforms, Singh added.

Political and student groups back the demand

The Sanyukt Pratiyogi Chhatra Hunkar Manch, a Prayagraj-based organisation representing aspirants of competitive government recruitment examinations, has extended its support to the protesting candidates.

Aam Aadmi Party Rajya Sabha MP Sanjay Singh visited the protest site and backed the aspirants' demand. "Over 15 lakh unemployed D.El.Ed trained people are waiting for teacher recruitment for the last nine years while roughly two lakh posts of primary teachers are vacant in Uttar Pradesh," Singh said. He criticised the state government for failing to conduct recruitment examinations and accused it of closing schools instead. The MP pledged to support the aspirants in every possible democratic way.
