Srisailam temple tightens safety at Pathalaganga ghats after water level concerns

Srisailam temple executive officer M. Srinivasa Rao has instructed officials to maintain round-the-clock surveillance to prevent accidents at the Pathalaganga bathing ghats, emphasizing the need for vigilance that responds to fluctuating water levels.

Inspection covers bathing ghats and facilities

The executive officer conducted a surprise inspection of multiple locations including the bathing ghats at Pathalaganga, the Siddharamappa commercial complex, and restrooms across various areas. The inspection aimed to assess safety arrangements and infrastructure conditions at sites frequented by devotees visiting the temple.

Water-level monitoring and swimmer deployment

Officials were directed to remain constantly vigilant and regularly monitor barricading arrangements in accordance with changes in water levels. Expert swimmers deployed at the site have been instructed to prevent accidents and remain extra vigilant, reflecting the risks posed by the holy bathing area. Rao noted that devotees attached great importance to taking holy dips at Pathalaganga, underscoring the site's spiritual significance.

Infrastructure repairs and cleanliness drive

Engineering officials received instructions to carry out necessary repairs to the changing rooms and restrooms used by women at Pathalaganga. The sanitation department was directed to ensure regular cleaning of the Pathalaganga surroundings and the steps leading to it. All restrooms within the temple complex, including those at Pathalaganga, must be maintained in a clean condition, the EO ordered.

Lighting and signage improvements

The executive officer ordered the installation of additional lights in the vicinity of Pathalaganga and along the stairway to improve visibility and safety. Officials were directed to install more signage boards at Pathalaganga and ensure that the installed signages are permanent in nature. The water supply department was ordered to ensure an uninterrupted water supply to the restrooms.

At the Siddharamappa commercial complex, the EO directed officials to take measures to keep both the shop complex and its surroundings clean, with regular removal of garbage and debris.
