Hong Kong plans major redevelopment of Victoria Park Tennis Centre by 2030

Hong Kong authorities are conducting feasibility studies to redevelop the Victoria Park Tennis Centre in Causeway Bay, with construction hoped to start within the current five-year plan that runs through 2030.

Secretary for Culture, Sports and Tourism Rossana Law Shuk-pui disclosed the timeline on Saturday, explaining that the completion date remains undecided and will depend on the project's finalised design and scale. The redevelopment could be finished either within the present five-year plan or the subsequent one, she added.

Multipurpose venue to attract major tournaments

The city is pursuing the redevelopment as part of efforts to host higher-tier tennis tournaments and transform the facility into a multipurpose venue. The Victoria Park Tennis Centre, located in the popular Causeway Bay district, currently serves as one of Hong Kong's key tennis facilities.

Feasibility studies are currently under way for the project, which represents a significant infrastructure investment in the city's sporting capabilities. The redevelopment forms part of Hong Kong's broader strategy to position itself as a regional sporting hub capable of attracting international competitions.
