SP Pandey restores water supply to disabled woman's home after viral appeal

A disabled woman from Kanpur Dehat district traveled 25 kilometers to the office of Superintendent of Police Shraddha Narendra Pandey on Friday, not to lodge a complaint, but to express her gratitude. Neetu Dwivedi, accompanied by her young daughter, arrived at the SP's office with tears in her eyes and a gift in her hands. The moment she met the SP, she broke down and embraced her, creating an emotional scene that has since gone viral on social media.

About a month earlier, Neetu had reached the District Magistrate's office to complain that while water was being supplied to her village Sithra Buzurg in Baraur police station area, the supply to her home and a few neighboring houses had been cut off. Being disabled, fetching water from a distance was extremely difficult for her. She alleged that despite repeated complaints, no action was taken, and she even faced rude behavior and threats from water department employees. Neetu had made multiple trips to various offices, each journey costing her hundreds of rupees in transportation expenses.

The matter came to SP Pandey's attention after a video of Neetu's plight went viral on social media. Although the issue did not fall directly under police jurisdiction, the SP took it seriously and instructed local police to visit Neetu's home and coordinate with the concerned officials. The water supply to her house was immediately restored.

Overwhelmed by the swift action, Neetu returned to thank the SP personally. During the emotional meeting, she presented the officer with a pen as a token of appreciation. The SP assured her that any future problems would be addressed promptly and also promised assistance for her daughter's education. Reflecting on the unusual visit, SP Pandey smiled and remarked that people usually come to her office angry and complaining, so it was refreshing to have someone visit to express gratitude. This story highlights how responsive governance can restore a citizen's faith in the system and transform tears of despair into tears of relief and respect.
