Seven persons held in Tirupattur for possession of sharp weapons

Seven Bengaluru residents were taken into custody after a police vehicle check near Jolarpet town led to the alleged recovery of country-made bombs and sharp weapons from a car, police said.

The arrests were made by the Kandali police in Tirupattur on Thursday on charges of possessing sharp weapons.

Police identified the arrested persons as M. Ganesh, 21; A. Ranjith, 25; A. Praveen, 27; M. Anthonyraj, 28; J. Salman, 23; N. Appu, 23, and K. Usman, 25.

All seven are residents of Bengaluru, according to police.

Police said a special team was conducting vehicle checks on Kandali Main Road when it intercepted a speeding car.

Alleged gang rivalry link

After intercepting the car, police found country-made bombs and sharp weapons inside it.

The occupants were allegedly planning to attack members of a rival gang after a fallout over ganja peddling in Bengaluru, police said.

Police said a case was registered following the seizure and arrests.

The arrested gang members were lodged at a sub-jail in Tirupattur.
