Sambhal Panchayat Secretaries Face Termination After Buildings Found Locked

A report by Rajat Malhotra from Sambhal/Chandausi says that action has been initiated over negligence after the panchayat buildings were found locked in Gram Panchayat Aata of Development Block Baniyakhera. Instructions have been issued for termination of the services of the concerned panchayat secretaries.

On 28.10.2026, Sunil Kumar Singh, Assistant Development Officer (Panchayat), Development Block Baniyakhera, conducted a physical inspection of the development works being carried out in Gram Panchayat Aata.

During the inspection, the panchayat building was also checked without prior notice. At the time of the inspection, the panchayat secretariat was found locked at the site.

Villagers present there told the ADO Panchayat that the panchayat house remains closed continuously. They said that because of this, villagers are unable to access services provided through the gram panchayat.

These services include birth and death certificates, copies of the family register and pensions. The villagers said the closure was preventing them from receiving the benefits of these services.

It was also reported that repeated complaints about both panchayat houses remaining closed had been received at the development block office and through the IGRS portal.

Taking note of these complaints, a surprise inspection was conducted today. During the inspection, the panchayat buildings were found closed.

At the spot, Sunil Kumar Singh issued instructions for action under the rules, including termination of the services of the panchayat secretaries of the concerned gram panchayats.

ADO Panchayat Sunil Kumar Singh said that surprise inspections of panchayat buildings and other development works in gram panchayats would continue in the same manner.

He further said that if any panchayat assistant or secretary is found absent without a solid reason, strict action for termination of service will be taken against the concerned person.
