As Diwali draws closer, the Food Department has launched an intensive crackdown in Shamli district to prevent the sale of adulterated sweets. Fifteen Food Department teams that arrived from Lucknow have camped in Shamli and are carrying out raids at different locations.

The demand for sweets in the markets is rising rapidly ahead of the festival, and crowds of customers have also started increasing at sweet shops. Against this backdrop, the department has begun a campaign against those involved in adulteration.

The teams are conducting continuous inspections at sweet shops, commercial establishments and places where sweets are prepared. During the raids, samples of rasgulla, rabri and various other sweets are being collected.

The collected samples are being sent to laboratories for testing. The tests will determine the quality of the sweets and whether they contain any adulteration. The Food Department’s action has caused a stir among sweet traders in Shamli.

The continuous raids by the teams have also led to activity among shopkeepers. Officials are reaching different locations across Shamli district as part of the campaign launched in view of the Diwali festival.

The department is continuing its action to maintain the quality of sweets during the festival and protect people from adulterated products. The campaign is being carried out at a time when the purchase of sweets increases significantly because of Diwali.

The action is being considered important for people who will buy sweets during the festival. The laboratory reports of the samples will establish what the tests find in the sweets.
