A woman died after a soil-laden dumper hit the motorcycle on which she was travelling with her husband on Anupshahr Road in Sambhal. The accident took place between Musapur and Raipur villages in the Kaila Devi police station area on Sunday night. After the collision, the dumper driver fled with the vehicle.
The incident has raised questions about the speed of dumpers linked to mining operations and the safety of people travelling on the road. Soil-laden dumpers are seen moving on the roads throughout the day and night in the area. Residents are now concerned about the movement of these heavy vehicles and their speed.
The deceased woman was identified as 36-year-old Alam Jahan, a resident of Saundhan Mohammadpur. She was travelling on a motorcycle with her husband, Yasin, to Bismillah Hospital in Sambhal to see their nephew who had been born there.
At around 7:30 pm on Sunday night, a soil-laden dumper approaching from behind hit their motorcycle. The collision was so severe that Alam Jahan did not get a chance to recover. She died at the spot. Yasin, who was riding the motorcycle, did not suffer any injuries.
The accident has brought renewed attention to the movement of mining dumpers in the Kaila Devi area. Their movement and speed on the roads, both during the day and at night, have become a matter of concern. The safety of motorcycle riders and pedestrians has also emerged as an important issue amid the movement of heavy vehicles on rural roads.
Questions are being raised about who will control the speed of these dumpers and how effectively the rules are being monitored. The accident has also led to questions about whether there is adequate control over the speed of heavy vehicles and whether traffic rules are being followed properly. At the local level, there is a need to check the speed of dumpers and ensure strict compliance with traffic rules.
News of Alam Jahan’s death led her family members and villagers to reach the accident site. The family was devastated after seeing her body. Angry villagers and relatives tried to block the road. Police worked for around 40 minutes to persuade them to remain calm and assured them that action would be taken.
Alam Jahan’s death has left three children without their mother. Yasin works as a furniture maker in Nagar Panchayat Mahmudpur Mafi of Moradabad district. The couple’s three children are Kayyum (16), Rani (13) and Sania (11). The sudden death of their mother has left the family in deep grief.
With the help of a 108 ambulance, Alam Jahan was taken to the District Joint Hospital. A doctor there declared her dead. According to station in-charge Sachin Kumar, the body has been sent for post-mortem and necessary action is being taken.
Sachin Kumar said that no complaint had been received from the family members at that time. Police are searching for the dumper driver who fled after the accident.
The incident has left a major question before the Kaila Devi area: after this painful accident, will there be effective monitoring of speeding dumpers, and will concrete steps be taken to protect people travelling on the road?
