KAKINADA: Construction of the much-anticipated Red Cross cancer hospital in Kakinada city has reached 80% completion, according to Kakinada District Collector and Indian Red Cross Kakinada Chapter president M. N. Harendhira Prasad.

Speaking at the Red Cross general body meeting on Wednesday, Mr. Prasad confirmed that the hospital, being built at a cost of ₹7.5 crore, is progressing steadily. The facility is expected to significantly enhance cancer care services in the region.

Additional Support for Equipment Likely

The District Collector also revealed that efforts are underway to secure further funding from public representatives in the Kakinada district to procure essential medical equipment for the hospital. This move is expected to ensure the hospital is fully equipped to meet patient needs once operational.

Focus on Women’s Hostel Construction

In addition to the hospital update, Mr. Prasad directed the Red Cross executive body to expedite the construction of a proposed women’s hostel in Kakinada city. This project aims to address accommodation challenges faced by women in the area.

During the meeting, Red Cross Kakinada Chapter Secretary K. Siva Kumar highlighted the chapter’s ongoing services and activities, reflecting its commitment to community welfare.

The Red Cross cancer hospital is poised to become a critical healthcare facility in Kakinada, offering specialized care to cancer patients in the district and beyond.
