Rayachoti launches ₹10.84 crore civic works infrastructure push

Minister for Transport, Sports and Youth Services Mandipalli Ramprasad Reddy performed bhumi puja for 68 civic works worth ₹10.84 crore across Rayachoti's municipal limits, marking the start of a broad infrastructure overhaul in the Annamayya district town.

The works launched include CC roads, drains and other basic infrastructure, to be executed with 15th Finance Commission funds, LRS-BPS and Scheduled Caste Sub-Plan (SCSP) grants. Projects worth ₹227 crore are in the pipeline.

Multiple funding streams mobilised

Speaking to the media, Mr. Ramprasad Reddy said that a ₹35-crore project covering roads, parks, streetlights and central dividers was also being expedited. The Andhra Pradesh Urban Finance and Infrastructure Development Corporation (APUFIDC) tender process for this project is expected to be completed by September 22.

Meanwhile, a ₹125-crore project has been proposed to augment Rayachoti's drinking water supply by laying a second pipeline from Veligallu dam. The proposal, currently under consideration for administrative approval, is designed to meet the town's water requirements for the next 30 years, the Minister said.

Another ₹44 crore has been sanctioned under UIDF for CC stormwater drains to address flooding and rainwater stagnation. A DPR has been submitted, and steps are being taken to initiate the tender process.

A further ₹23-crore proposal for roads, drains and other urgent infrastructure is under consideration.

Phased approach to civic upgrade

Officials of the Roads and Buildings (R&B) and Rural Water Supply, Panchayat Raj and Revenue departments informed the Minister that ₹6.30 crore had been spent in Rayachoti in the past year on roads, drains, streetlights, water pipelines, parks, dividers, circle beautification and sanitation.

"The government is adopting a phased approach to upgrade civic infrastructure, with priority to drinking water, drainage, roads and urban amenities. The projects will be implemented by mobilising funds from various government schemes and grants," Mr. Ramprasad Reddy said.
