Raveendran Named Kerala State Chalachitra Academy Chairperson, Priyanka Nair Vice-Chair

Actor and festival curator Raveendran has been named chairperson of the Kerala State Chalachitra Academy, with actor Priyanka Nair appointed as vice-chairperson in a wider reset of the institution’s leadership.

New leadership named

The Keralam government made the appointments on Friday, also naming actor Salim Hassan and filmmaker Jofin T. Chacko as executive committee members.

The changes cover the top posts of the academy as well as a complete reconstitution of the executive committee and the general council.

General council reconstituted

The general council members are Deepu Karunakaran, Vaikom Vijayalekshmi, M.V. Gireesh Kumar, Salim Hassan, B. Rakesh, Sajeevan Anthikkad, Zakariya, R.S. Panicker, Dharmajan Bolgatty, Vazhoor Jose, A.Kabeer, Sabu Shankar, Sherga Sandeep and Abdul Hanan.

Appointments follow resignations

The reconstitution comes after a delay of over four months since the Congress-led United Democratic Front (UDF) took charge.

Former chairperson Resul Pookutty and vice-chairperson Kukku Parameswaran had tendered their resignation in May, some weeks after the UDF government took charge.
