Puducherry to Host Classical Dance Festival 'Lasya Labanya' on June 19

PUDUCHERRY: Art and dance enthusiasts are set to witness a cultural extravaganza as Puducherry gears up to host "Lasya Labanya," a classical dance festival celebrating the rich heritage of Indian classical dance. The event is being organised by Aurodhan, Puducherry, in collaboration with Biswanath Sangeetalay, Cuttack, with support from the Union culture ministry.

Scheduled to take place at 7:30 PM on June 19 at the Aurodhan Kritshraya Garden in Kurusukuppam, the festival will feature captivating performances that highlight the elegance of Odissi and Bharatanatyam dance forms. The lineup includes Odissi solo performances by Kalaimamani Sangeeta Dash, a recipient of the prestigious Sangeet Natak Akademi award, and Dipti Routray. Additionally, audiences can look forward to a Bharatanatyam duet by Sumati Kalidindi and Aurodyuti Dutta, an Odissi duet by Tapomagna and Mahitashree, students of Sangeeta Dash, and a group Odissi composition performed by artists from Biswanath Sangeetalay, Cuttack, who study under Dipti Routray.

The festival, part of the broader Aurodhan Arts Festival, embraces the theme "Oneness Through Art," aiming to create a cultural bridge by bringing Odisha's classical Odissi traditions to Puducherry's scenic shores. Organisers have extended an open invitation to the public, art lovers, and tourists to attend this evening of classical aesthetics. Entry to the event is free.
