The incident has led to grief in the area. It has also brought attention to health-related precautions that need to be taken while exercising during winter mornings and while working out at a gym.
BMO Ghumarwin Dr. Anupam Sharma said that people who go for a morning walk in winter and those who exercise at gyms should protect themselves from the cold and also remain aware of their physical capacity.
He said exposure to cold can cause blood vessels to constrict. This may lead to a rise in blood pressure and put pressure on the heart. He said people suffering from heart disease, patients with high blood pressure and those at higher risk should take extra precautions.
Dr. Sharma said people should wear warm clothes when leaving for a morning walk. They should wear a cap on their head and protect their ears from the cold as well.
He also said that young people who work out at gyms, along with those from the middle-aged group and senior citizens, should pay attention to their health while exercising. If anyone experiences chest pain, unusual difficulty in breathing, dizziness, cold sweating or sudden weakness during exercise, they should stop exercising immediately and seek medical help.
