NRI University Students Win WISER Vanguard Global Quantum Challenge

Students of Dr. RVR NRI Institute of Technology (Deemed to be University) have secured the top position in the WISER Vanguard Global Challenge with a quantum technology project on workforce management, the institution said in a statement issued on Friday.

Winning project

The NRI University team won the international competition with “THRINETRA: Quantum Workforce Optimisation”, a project that explores the use of quantum technology to optimise workforce management.

The competition was focused on innovation in quantum technology and drew around 65,000 participants from 33 countries, according to the institution’s statement.

From that field, 219 teams were shortlisted for the global challenge, and the NRI University team secured the top position.

Route to the global challenge

The achievement is linked to the Amaravati Quantum Valley Initiative, under which the Washington Institute for STEM, Entrepreneurship and Research (WISER) is working to train 50,000 students across Andhra Pradesh in quantum technology.

As part of the initiative, 200 students of NRI University received training in quantum technology.

Following the training, one team from the university was selected among the top 10 teams to participate in the WISER Vanguard Global Challenge.

The team subsequently emerged as the overall winner, the statement said.

Team and recognition

The winning team comprised G. Tejaswi Venkata Aparna, Shaik Muntaz and R. Madhusudhana Rao, all students of the Data Science Department.

NRI University Chancellor R. Venkat Rao and Vice-Chancellor K.R.S. Sambasiva Rao congratulated the students on their achievement and their contribution to innovation, research and technology.

The result places the university’s team at the top of a global competition that began with around 65,000 participants and moved through a shortlist of 219 teams before the final outcome.

The institution’s statement connected the win to a wider training effort in quantum technology across Andhra Pradesh through the Amaravati Quantum Valley Initiative.
