Muzaffarpur Gas Pipeline Blast Leaves One Dead, At Least Six Injured

A massive explosion took place in an underground PNG gas pipeline in Muzaffarpur’s Gobarsahi-Dumri area on Monday, after a gas leak was reported. According to a report, one person died in the incident and at least six people were injured.

A separate local report, however, put the number of injured at seven. The blast caused serious damage to a four-storey building. Window panes of houses in the surrounding area were also shattered in the explosion.

It has been reported that the pipeline was affected by a JCB machine during excavation work. The incident followed the reported leak in the underground gas pipeline and led to the powerful blast in the residential area.

The district administration has ordered an investigation into the incident. The accident has also raised serious questions about safety arrangements for underground gas pipelines in urban areas and the precautions taken during construction and excavation work.
