Tree Falls On Shelter In Shravasti; 1 Dead, 5 Injured

A tragic accident was reported in Shravasti amid strong winds and heavy rain, when a large gular tree suddenly fell on a thatched shelter in Loniyanpurwa under the Sonwa police station area.

According to the information available, 6 people were sitting under the thatched shelter when the tree was uprooted and crashed down on it. The people seated below were trapped under heavy branches and debris.

The family members had reportedly taken shelter under the thatch to protect themselves from the rain. Moments later, the huge gular tree was uprooted from its roots and fell directly on the structure. After the incident, there was panic and cries for help at the spot.

Villagers immediately started a rescue effort. Using a saw and an axe, they cut through the fallen tree and pulled out the people trapped under the debris.

The injured were taken to different hospitals, including in Bhinga. One elderly person, whose condition was serious, was referred to Medical College Bahraich. During treatment there, doctors declared him dead.

Five people are said to be injured in the accident. After receiving information, Sonwa police reached the spot and took charge of the relief and rescue operation.
