PAM’s election rise
El Mansouri’s Authenticity and Modernity Party (PAM) won the recent election, according to the source account.
The party was created in 2008 by an adviser to the king, and has since presented itself as a counterweight to the Islamist Justice and Development Party (PJD).
PAM’s stated political positioning includes advocacy of social modernisation and secular-leaning views.
Government formation next
The king’s request means El Mansouri is now tasked with putting together a new government, the palace said.
