Modi releases commemorative coin at Delhi University college's centenary celebration

Prime Minister Narendra Modi released a commemorative ₹100 coin at Delhi University's Shri Ram College of Commerce as the institution marked its centenary with a ceremony attended by the Prime Minister.

Modi arrived at the college premises after taking a metro ride, during which he interacted with children. He reached the venue to participate in the celebrations scheduled for 7 PM.

The Prime Minister's journey to the campus included interactions with children aboard the Delhi Metro, though details of the conversations were not disclosed.

Recognition for academic legacy

Earlier in the day, Modi praised the college in a post on X, describing SRCC as iconic and noting its distinction for academic excellence and institution-building. "This college has distinguished itself over the years, making a mark for academic excellence, institution-building and for nurturing generations of leaders in business, public life and society," he wrote.

The visit marks the BJP's ongoing outreach to the younger generation, according to reports. Modi last visited SRCC in 2013 when he served as Chief Minister of Gujarat.

Earlier anniversary event

In April, the Prime Minister had met the college's governing body and a delegation at his residence to mark the 100th anniversary. During that meeting, he released a special commemorative postage stamp.

The centenary celebrations highlight SRCC's role in shaping leaders across business, public service and society over a century of operation.
