Latur Officials Visit Vijayawada to Study Ambedkar Memorial for New Project

Corporators from the Latur Municipal Corporation, Maharashtra, led by Mayor Jayashree Bhalchandra Sonkamble, visited Vijayawada on Tuesday to study the Dr. B.R. Ambedkar Smriti Vanam and Ambedkar Kala Vedika as part of a study tour. The delegation explored the memorial's advanced facilities, including digital exhibitions and modern architectural features, to gather insights for their own upcoming Ambedkar statue project in Latur.

Examining Advanced Facilities and Design

The team closely inspected the beautification work and the use of advanced technology in constructing the iconic statue at Smriti Vanam. At Ambedkar Kala Vedika, they reviewed the modern facilities across multiple floors, including art galleries and other architectural elements. NTR District Collector G. Lakshmisha provided a detailed presentation on the design, technical aspects, and cultural importance of both sites.

Invitation Extended for Latur Project

Mayor Sonkamble expressed her appreciation for the warm reception from Vijayawada officials. She extended an invitation to Collector Lakshmisha to attend the foundation stone-laying ceremony for Dr. Ambedkar’s statue in Latur. As a gesture of goodwill, the delegation was presented with a replica of Dr. Ambedkar's statue.

The visit underscores the Latur Municipal Corporation's commitment to creating a meaningful tribute to Dr. Ambedkar by learning from established projects. Officials from both cities, including Vijayawada Municipal Corporation in-charge Commissioner A.
