Actor Kush Shah, who played Goli in the popular sitcom 'Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashmah', has launched his own YouTube channel with an unusual concept, cooking meals in the homes of strangers.

In his debut video, Shah is seen walking through Mumbai's streets, approaching random people and asking if he can cook a meal in their homes. The 29-year-old actor explained his motivation behind the idea, saying that fans have shown him tremendous love over the years and this is his way of giving back.

From Gokuldham to YouTube

Shah portrayed Dr Hansraj Hathi's son in the show for 16 years before leaving in 2024. He had initially quit to pursue higher studies in New York. However, he has now returned to India and turned to content creation instead.

"You people have given me so much love, so this is the time to return that love to you. I love cooking food very much. So I will cook for you people, I mean for someone. Walking through Mumbai's streets, I will ask people and let's see who gives me permission to go to their home and cook. I will make my special dish," Shah said in the video.

The Cooking Challenge

In the video, Shah approaches multiple people on the street with his request. Many declined, some were camera-shy while others cited having small kitchens. Eventually, one person agreed.

Shah then went shopping for ingredients and proceeded to the person's home, where he was warmly welcomed. He prepared pineapple curry with rice, which was well-received by the family. Neighbourhood residents and children gathered around, cheering "Goli... Goli" upon seeing their favourite television star.

Industry Colleagues Respond

The video has garnered positive reactions from Shah's former co-stars. Jheel Mehta, who played Sonu in the show, commented asking when he would come to her home. Palak Sidhwani, another actress who portrayed Sonu, wrote "Finally. Let's go Kushu". Nirmal Soni also commented, calling the video "solid".

A Long-Planned Move

In the video caption, Shah reflected on his journey to content creation, writing that it took him five years to finally launch his channel. "Making YouTube videos is easy. Record, edit and upload. It took me 5 years to do this. I was thinking about starting a YouTube channel for a long time, thought a lot, planned, postponed, doubted and today finally made and uploaded. This is not just my first YouTube video, but it is my journey of finding my own path. Welcome to my YouTube channel," he wrote.

Life in New York

Speaking to Times of India about his time in New York, Shah had earlier shared insights about living independently. "I am living alone in New York. The person I was going to share a room with didn't come. So I got the whole room. Then I learned many things there. Here in India, my parents used to do everything for me. But there I had to do everything myself. I even washed my own dishes. I was very distracted there. To tell the truth, I like Ghatkopar more than Times Square," he said.

Shah's character Goli was known for his love of food in the show. His role is now being played by Dharmit Turakhiya.
