Jackie Shroff Shares His Heartfelt Parenting Philosophy: Hugs, Harmony, and Listening to Children
Veteran actor Jackie Shroff, fondly known as Jaggu Dada, has always stood out for his unique perspective on life, and his approach to parenting is no exception. In a recent conversation with *Curly Tales*, Jackie opened up about the affectionate bond he shares with his children, Tiger Shroff and Krishna Shroff, while sharing his heartfelt parenting philosophy.
For Jackie, small gestures like hugs carry profound meaning. Reflecting on his bond with Tiger, he described the joy of holding his son close, even from childhood. “When he was little, I held him as a little one. Now that he’s grown, I hold him as he is now,” he reminisced. To him, a hug is not just a gesture but an expression of deep affection that strengthens the parent-child bond.
Jackie emphasized the importance of emotional connection, saying, “Whenever I get the chance, I hug them… Everyone needs a hug, don’t they?” He firmly believes that such acts of love and care are essential in parenting.
The actor also highlighted the impact of a peaceful home environment on children’s emotional well-being. “When the home is peaceful and has harmony, children also feel peaceful and stay in harmony,” he explained, stressing the need for creating a calm and harmonious family atmosphere to raise emotionally secure children.
Jackie’s ultimate parenting mantra revolves around mutual understanding and open communication. “Now they are a big girl and a big boy. I listen to them, they listen to me,” he shared, underscoring the importance of evolving the parent-child relationship into one of mutual respect and dialogue as children grow older. He believes that parenting is not just about guiding but also about giving children the space to express themselves and be heard. “It’s not like they only have to hear the mother or the father,” he added.
His advice to parents is simple yet profound: “Listen to them. Give them ears, otherwise they will drift talking to others, taking advice from people.” Jackie believes that giving children time and attention to share their thoughts is crucial in building a strong, trusting relationship.
Beyond parenting, Jackie also touched upon the awareness and wisdom children bring to the table. Recalling a conversation with children about nature and sustainability, he remarked, “Kids are the future… They are aware that what we are leaving behind is for them.” For Jackie, such awareness is a reminder of the responsibility parents have toward shaping a better world for the next generation.
Jackie Shroff’s parenting philosophy serves as a reminder that raising children is not just about providing for them but about building a relationship where they feel loved, safe, and heard. Through small gestures like hugs, fostering a peaceful home, and prioritizing emotional connection, he believes parents can play a powerful role in their children’s growth.
