Ishaan Khatter Responds to Fan’s Question About His Religion: ‘Jai Jesus, Shree Allah’

Actor Ishaan Khatter recently shared a lighthearted and thoughtful response to a fan's question about his religion during an Instagram "Ask Me Anything" (AMA) session. Known for his multicultural upbringing, Ishaan humorously replied, "Jai Jesus, Shree Allah, Holy Spirit Di Fateh," when a fan expressed confusion about his religious identity.

Ishaan, born to parents from different faiths, identifies with both Hinduism and Islam. His father, actor Rajesh Khattar, is from a Punjabi Hindu family, while his mother, actress and dancer Neelima Azeem, comes from a liberal Muslim background. Growing up, Ishaan was exposed to various religious practices, visiting temples, mosques, and churches, which shaped his inclusive worldview.

In a follow-up Instagram story, Ishaan elaborated on his beliefs, emphasizing values like "nature, kindness, humanity, creation" rather than adhering to religious labels. He accompanied the post with a scenic photo of himself amidst a picturesque landscape with hot-air balloons.

Ishaan has previously spoken about how his upbringing in a mixed-faith household influenced his perspective. In an interview with Filmfare, he described the inter-religious marriage of his parents as reflective of India's diversity and inclusivity. He highlighted how the seamless blending of cultures is a strength, adding that being Indian is a unique identity that transcends individual faiths.

However, Ishaan also acknowledged witnessing instances of discrimination and prejudice, noting how people are often judged or stereotyped even before their stories are understood. He emphasized the importance of overcoming such divisiveness to foster unity.

On the work front, Ishaan was last seen in Neeraj Ghaywan’s critically acclaimed film Homebound, which also featured Vishal Jethwa and Janhvi Kapoor. The movie received praise at various film festivals for its storytelling and performances. Ishaan’s next project is a light-hearted comedy titled Jugaadu, directed by Palash Vaswani, where he will star alongside Abhishek Banerjee, Jameel Khan, Vaibhav Raj Gupta, and Punjabi actor Tania.
