Hysan Development reports 7.4% earnings rise amid project completion
Hysan Development reports a 7.4% rise in first-half earnings, driven by the nearing completion of Lee Garden Eight in Causeway Bay.
Hong Kong property developer Hysan Development has posted a 7.4% increase in first-half earnings, reaching HK$1.11 billion, as it moves closer to completing its Lee Garden Eight project in Causeway Bay this quarter. Revenue for the six months ending June 30 remained steady at HK$1.73 billion, marking a slight year-on-year dip of 0.1%, according to the company's filing with the Hong Kong stock exchange on Thursday.
Mixed Performance Across Business Segments
Hysan’s chairwoman, Irene Lee Yun-lien, highlighted the company’s community-focused business model as a key driver of its performance. Retail revenue saw modest growth of 1.4%, while office revenue edged up by 0.5%. However, residential sales experienced a sharp decline of 15.3%, attributed to reduced leasing inventory following the disposal of two blocks at Bamboo Grove, a residential complex in the Mid-Levels.
Dividend Remains Steady
The company’s board has declared a first interim dividend of 27 Hong Kong cents per share, consistent with the payout made during the same period last year.
Why It Matters
Hysan’s earnings growth comes at a critical juncture as the Lee Garden Eight project nears completion, potentially enhancing its portfolio in the bustling Causeway Bay area. The mixed performance across segments reflects broader market dynamics, including challenges in residential leasing following asset disposals. The steady dividend signals confidence in the company’s financial stability despite flat overall revenue.
