National Unity Day was observed at the police line auditorium in Hathras on the occasion of the 151st birth anniversary of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel, known as the Iron Man of India and a Bharat Ratna awardee. The programme was held on Saturday, 31 October 2026, and was attended by District Magistrate Satya Prakash Patel, Superintendent of Police Chiranjiv Nath Sinha, Chief Development Officer P.N. Dixit and other officers and employees.

The officials and employees paid tribute to Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel by garlanding his portrait. District Magistrate Satya Prakash Patel then administered the oath to preserve national unity, integrity and security.

During the oath-taking ceremony, those present pledged to protect the unity and integrity of the nation, promote a feeling of unity among the people of the country and contribute to ensuring the country’s internal security. The live broadcast of the Chief Minister’s address was also shown during the programme. The officers and employees watched and listened to the address.

District Magistrate Satya Prakash Patel extended his greetings on the birth anniversary of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel and National Unity Day. He said that a nation can achieve economic development only when its people are connected by the thread of unity.

According to the District Magistrate, Sardar Patel made an incomparable contribution to building India in the integrated form in which the country is seen today. He also played an important role in strengthening national unity and integrity, he said.

The District Magistrate said that the Indian Constitution also emphasises fraternity, mutual harmony and the spirit of national unity. He added that national unity has a deep connection with economic development.

He said that the agriculture, industry and service sectors strengthen the country’s economy. The industry and service sectors have an important role in the processing, grading and marketing of agricultural products, taking them to consumers and exporting them, the District Magistrate said.

Satya Prakash Patel said Hathras has a history of being an ancient industrial and commercial centre. He described this as the district’s glorious tradition and said there was a need to take it forward.

During the programme, the District Magistrate also discussed the state government’s Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel Skill Training and Employment Centre Scheme, which was launched on 12 October. He said the objective of the scheme was to provide small and micro industries with the necessary basic facilities on a single campus.

These facilities would include trained human resources, uninterrupted electricity supply, availability of raw materials, processing, grading, marketing and other arrangements related to taking products to the market. The scheme is intended to bring several requirements of small and micro industries together at one location.

The District Magistrate said that the centres would be developed on around 10 to 25 acres of land. The process, from the primary product to the marketing of the finished product, would be made convenient at one place through these centres.

He said this would benefit micro, small and medium enterprises and create new employment opportunities at the local level. The discussion on the scheme was linked to the broader focus on increasing industry and employment in Hathras.

The District Magistrate also discussed possible land sites for implementing the scheme in Hathras. He said one option was the availability of land around the polytechnic opposite the new industrial area being developed in Salempur.

Another possibility was the land identified by UPEDA near the Greenfield Expressway. The District Magistrate said a centre could also be established at that location.

Under another option, around 25 acres of land could be made available to the Industries Department. An industrial cluster, skill training facilities and a common facility centre could be developed there, he said.

The District Magistrate said that the plan would be discussed in a phased manner with the departments concerned, people from the industry and business organisations. The aim would be to prepare a better action plan according to the local needs of Hathras and implement it on the ground.

The District Development Officer, Additional Superintendent of Police, Sub-Divisional Magistrates, Circle Officers, Deputy Commissioner Industries, Lead Bank Manager and members of Udyog Bandhu were present at the programme. Members of the trading community, officers and employees from various departments, and students also attended the event.
