Guntur Municipal Commissioner orders all potholes fixed within three days

Guntur Municipal Corporation Commissioner K. Mayur Ashok has set a three-day deadline for engineering officials to repair every pothole in the city, warning that no pothole should remain unattended.

At a review meeting held at the GMC conference hall late Wednesday, the Commissioner said most of the second phase of desilting works had been completed. He instructed officials to complete the remaining works on a war footing and pay special attention to areas around culverts, where complaints of inadequate desilting had been received. The removed silt should be cleared from the sites immediately, he said.

Focus on water supply and metering

Assistant Engineers were asked to personally monitor pothole repairs and focus on drinking water supply in their respective jurisdictions. They were directed to prevent contamination and collect water samples from all Elevated Level Service Reservoirs and households during supply.

The Commissioner also instructed officials to ensure water meter readings were taken regularly and to install new meters wherever necessary.

Directive on stalled projects

Development works should be completed quickly, while works for which tenders had been finalised but not begun should be cancelled, Mayur Ashok said.

He also called for improving parks and cremation grounds, completing works funded under the 15th Finance Commission and resolving public complaints within the prescribed time. Before-and-after photographs of resolved complaints should be uploaded, he said.

The comprehensive review reflects the corporation's push to address civic infrastructure gaps and respond to citizen grievances systematically across water supply, sanitation and public amenities.
