Xu, a speaker at the summit, emphasized that foreign pharma firms are increasingly targeting Chinese companies with strong innovation capabilities and fostering deeper collaborations with local partners. "The investment could help Chinese companies grow, pushing them to compete on the global stage," Xu noted during a panel discussion.

One notable example is AstraZeneca's joint venture with CSPC Pharmaceutical Group. Under the agreement, AstraZeneca will hold a 49% stake, while CSPC retains the remaining shares. Initially, the partnership will focus on manufacturing and supplying products for the global market, with plans to expand its product portfolio in the future.

For instance, Swedish wound care and surgical products provider Mölnlycke recently partnered with Zhende Medical, a Zhejiang-based domestic supplier of medical care and protection items.
