Ganesh celebrations begin September 14, mass immersion on September 25

The Bhagyanagar Ganesh Utsav Samithi has announced that Ganesh idol installations across the city will begin on September 14, with the mass immersion procession scheduled for September 25.

150 immersion sites readied

The organisers have arranged immersion facilities at 150 designated locations, including Vinayaksagar at Hussainsagar, Saroornagar Lake, Ameenpur Lake and Kapra Lake, in addition to approximately 110 ponds across the city.

BGUS president Rajasekhar Reddy, general secretary R. Shashidhar and other office-bearers addressed a press conference to announce the arrangements. The Samithi said extensive preparatory work had been carried out over the past three months in coordination with the police, Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation, Hyderabad Metropolitan Water Supply and Sewerage Board, and other government departments to ensure smooth conduct of the festivities.

Appeal against sound system curbs

The organisers emphasised that traditional devotional and cultural programmes associated with the festival should be facilitated within the framework of existing regulations. The Samithi also appealed to the authorities against imposing "unnecessary" restrictions on the use of sound systems during celebrations.

According to the organisers, the festival would generate significant economic activity and benefit local artisans and people engaged in traditional occupations. They added that cultural programmes related to 'Vande Mataram', Telangana Liberation Day, Sant Ravidas and other themes would be organised during the festival period.
