Food Safety shuts South Ruchi hotel kitchen over hygiene violations in Bengaluru

Food Safety and Drug Administration officials have ordered the closure of South Ruchi hotel's kitchen on Race Course Road in Bengaluru, instructing the owner to suspend operations until compliance with food safety standards is achieved.

Raid follows consumer complaints

The action followed after consumers lodged complaints with the department about food quality and unhygienic kitchen conditions at the establishment. FSDA officials conducted the raid and cited alleged hygiene problems as well as mislabelling violations during their inspection.

Several unspecified items were seized during the operation. The hotel will remain shut until the premises are rectified according to food safety norms and the FSDA conducts a follow-up inspection before permitting it to reopen.

Wider enforcement drive across city

The department has been conducting extensive inspections across Bengaluru's food service sector. FSDA officials have so far seized hundreds of kilograms of expired and mislabelled food products from seven star hotels, five star hotels, e-commerce food supply stores, various fast food outlets, and kitchens operating in clubs throughout the city. The enforcement sweep has also covered medicines procured by e-commerce supply stores that lacked proper licences.
