Dr. NTRUHS Advocates Uniform Implementation of Revised Physiotherapy Curriculum

Dr. P. Chandrasekhar, Vice-Chancellor of Dr. NTR University of Health Sciences (Dr. NTRUHS), has called for the uniform implementation of the newly revised Bachelor of Physiotherapy curriculum across affiliated colleges. Speaking at an orientation programme in Vijayawada on Tuesday, he stressed the importance of aligning physiotherapy education with the national standards set by the National Commission for Allied and Healthcare Professions (NCAHP).

Focus on Quality and Expansion

Dr. Chandrasekhar highlighted that the revised curriculum is a significant step toward improving the quality of physiotherapy education in India. He revealed that the university has already submitted proposals to the Andhra Pradesh government to introduce the Bachelor of Physiotherapy course in well-established government medical colleges across the state. This move, he said, aims to expand access to quality physiotherapy education.

Collaboration with Affiliated Colleges

Registrar T. Sai Sudheer urged affiliated institutions to actively adopt the updated curriculum and maintain close coordination with Dr. NTRUHS to ensure high academic standards. He emphasized that effective implementation would lead to better learning outcomes for students. The orientation programme also served as a platform for participants, including the principals of 69 affiliated physiotherapy colleges, to share suggestions for executing the revised curriculum.

Stakeholders in Attendance

The event saw the participation of key stakeholders, including V. Radhika Reddy, Additional Director of Medical Education (Academic), and Ch. Sreekanth, Controller of Examinations at Dr. NTRUHS. Their presence underscored the university’s commitment to fostering collaboration among academic and administrative leaders to achieve the desired outcomes.

This development marks a critical step in standardizing physiotherapy education in line with national guidelines, ensuring that future healthcare professionals are better equipped to meet the evolving demands of the field.
