District administration distributes land deeds to families displaced by Veligonda Project

The district administration has completed basic amenities in rehabilitation colonies and begun distributing land title deeds to families displaced by the Poola Subbaiah Veligonda Project, with officials pledging that every eligible person will receive compensation before water is released into the canal on August 31.

Markapuram District Collector M. Vijaya Sunitha visited Gottipadiya and Akkachervu Thanda, villages facing submergence, on Thursday to inspect conditions and review compensation status on the ground. Accompanied by Joint Collector P. Srinivasulu, DRO Venkata Sivarami Reddy and district-level officials, she distributed pattas to villagers during the visit.

Rehabilitation push ahead of project launch

The Collector assured displaced residents that the government would provide support for their rehabilitation and urged them to remain confident. She stated that all residents of the rehabilitation villages would receive compensation before the scheduled water release.

The project is set to be inaugurated by Chief Minister Nara Chandrababu Naidu on Monday at Gantavanipalli in Dornala mandal, where a public meeting will accompany the formal release of water.

Security review for CM visit

SP V. Harshavardhan Raju, along with Ongole MP Magunta Srinivasulu Reddy, Markapuram MLA Kandula Narayana Reddy and other officials, inspected security arrangements and vehicle routes on Thursday in preparation for the Chief Minister's visit.

The SP directed officials from all departments to coordinate and take proactive precautionary measures to prevent security lapses. He ordered robust security at the helipad, public meeting venue and the feeder canal, instructing officials to thoroughly review all arrangements.
