Dhanush's action-packed OM teaser promises intense drama and rebellion

Dhanush Unleashes Fury in OM First Glimpse; Mammootty and Sai Pallavi Also Star

The much-anticipated film OM, starring Dhanush, Mammootty, Sai Pallavi, and Sreeleela, has unveiled its first promo, titled OM First Strike. Directed by Rajkumar Periasamy, the teaser offers a gripping preview of an action-packed drama set against the backdrop of dense forests, armed conflict, and rebellion. The film's music is composed by Sai Abhyankkar and is slated for a theatrical release on October 16, 2026.

The teaser begins with sweeping visuals of mountains, forests, and a temple town before transitioning into a tense standoff in a rain-soaked jungle. It depicts frightened villagers surrounded by armed personnel, with the atmosphere thick with fear and tension. A blood-streaked axe lodged in a freshly cut tree stump hints at the violence brewing in the region.

As the situation escalates, the villagers chant “Anna Malaiyarku!” in unison, shifting the mood from fear to defiance. Dhanush makes a dramatic entry through the rain and mist, engaging in brutal hand-to-hand combat with armed officers, disarming and overpowering multiple opponents. In a standout moment, he is seen wielding an assault rifle, confronting the remaining forces with unrelenting intensity. The teaser concludes with Dhanush raising a massive weapon over his head before the title logo appears, revealing that the story will begin with Chapter 1: Udhiram – The Blood Wood, hinting at a larger multi-part narrative.

OM marks Dhanush’s first collaboration with director Rajkumar Periasamy, whose previous film Amaran earned critical and commercial acclaim. The project was initially announced as Dhanush’s 55th film, tentatively titled D55. Wunderbar Films, in association with RTake Studios, shared the news on social media, describing it as “a grand new beginning.” The film also reunites Dhanush and Mammootty, who previously appeared together in the 2013 Malayalam film Proprietors: Kammath & Kammath.

Dhanush, last seen in the Tamil heist action-thriller Kara, has several exciting projects lined up, including a biographical drama on former President APJ Abdul Kalam and a film based on the life of music maestro Ilaiyaraaja.
