CM Bhagwant Singh Mann Opens NABH-Accredited 'Capital Hospital' in Moga

Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann on Saturday inaugurated the state-of-the-art 120-bed 'Capital Hospital' in Moga, marking a significant milestone in the region's healthcare infrastructure. The facility, which is the first National Accreditation Board for Hospitals & Healthcare Providers (NABH)-accredited multi-speciality hospital in Moga district, is equipped to offer specialised treatment for critical illnesses. Mann emphasised that the hospital will bring advanced healthcare services closer to residents of the Malwa region, sparing them the need to travel to distant cities for quality care.

Cashless Treatment Under State and Central Schemes

Eligible patients will benefit from cashless treatment under the Punjab Government's Mukh Mantri Sehat Yojna and the Central Government’s Ayushman Bharat Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Yojana (PM-JAY). CM Mann highlighted this initiative as part of the government’s broader commitment to affordable healthcare, which includes a network of 1,090 Aam Aadmi Clinics across Punjab. "We remain fully committed to ensuring that every Punjabi has access to affordable, modern, and high-quality healthcare," Mann said.

Healthcare and Education: Pillars of Development

Addressing the gathering, Mann reiterated his government’s focus on healthcare and education as the "strongest pillars of inclusive development." He noted that doctors are often regarded as second only to God and expressed his administration's resolve to restore public faith in these professions. “Some people have brought disrepute to these noble professions, but our government is committed to ensuring their dignity and service to humanity,” he stated.

Punjab’s Healthcare Transformation

The Chief Minister also highlighted Punjab’s achievements in healthcare, including the launch of the country’s first universal healthcare scheme, Mukh Mantri Sehat Yojna. Under this initiative, every resident family in Punjab is entitled to cashless medical treatment of up to ₹10 lakh annually. Mann revealed that over ₹650 crore worth of cashless treatment has already been availed under the scheme, significantly easing the financial burden on families.

Additionally, Punjab has established a liver transplant centre in Mohali, making it the second state in North India after Delhi to offer such specialised services. Mann described this as another step towards providing world-class healthcare and saving lives.

Broader Vision for Punjab

While the inauguration focused on healthcare, Mann also highlighted the state’s progress in education, noting that Punjab has become the top-performing state in school education, surpassing Kerala. He credited reforms like the establishment of Schools of Eminence for this transformation.

The Chief Minister concluded by reaffirming his administration’s commitment to development across sectors, stating, “This is not a political rally. It is part of our continuous effort to accelerate development across Punjab.”
