Cashier Janki Das, who was fatally shot at Shri Kumar Medical Store in Chandigarh's Sector-11, will be cremated today in his ancestral village in Himachal Pradesh. The post-mortem was conducted at Sector-16 hospital on Sunday, after which the body was handed over to the family. According to a doctor from the post-mortem panel, the cashier was shot at close range, with bullets passing through his body, while one remained lodged in his rib. A total of 11 bullets were fired at him.

Chandigarh Police have yet to apprehend the three attackers. However, an auto driver who transported the suspects from Sector-10 Leisure Valley to near Sector-43 bus stand has been detained. The driver stated that three young men boarded his auto near Sector-10 and communicated in Punjabi throughout the journey. Based on this, police suspect the attackers may be linked to Punjab's border areas, particularly Tarn Taran, though this has not been officially confirmed.

CCTV footage revealed that the attackers, after the shooting on June 13 at 2:28 PM, reached the Sector-43 bus stand area by 3:18 PM. They initially fled on a bike, which was later found abandoned near Sector-10 Leisure Valley, about 1.5 km from the crime scene. From there, they booked an auto to travel approximately 7.5 km to Kajheri village. Police are piecing together their movements using CCTV and other evidence.

The Punjab Anti-Gangster Task Force (AGTF), led by ADGP Pramod Ban, has joined the search for the suspects. Chandigarh's Administrator and Punjab Governor Gulab Chand Kataria has also taken note of the case, holding a meeting with senior police officials to discuss security lapses.
