Annual elders’ fest Hiriyara Habba in Bengaluru on October 4

V The Volunteers (VTVO) has announced Hiriyara Jaatre 2026, its annual elders’ fest in Bengaluru, through the Elders’ Adda Cause initiative.

The event will be held on Sunday October 4 and will bring senior citizens from old-age homes together for games, sports, entertainment and cultural performances.

Hiriyara Jaatre was started in 2017, and the organisers said this year’s edition will include 800 senior citizens from 40 old-age homes across Bengaluru.

The participants will be supported by over 800 volunteers, according to the organisers.

The organisers described the event as a day when elders take an active role in the programme.

“For one day, the elders are not spectators. They are the participants, performers, competitors, and centre of the celebration,” they said.

The activities will begin at New Horizon Gurukul School in Kadubeesanahalli at 7 a.m. and continue until 5 p.m.

The programme’s format includes participation in games, sports and cultural performances, alongside entertainment activities.

With senior citizens from 40 old-age homes expected to attend, the event will bring together residents of care homes from across Bengaluru for the annual gathering.
