The ‘Satya Sanatan Swabhiman Yatra’, a 930-kilometre foot march from Ujjain to Ayodhya led by former Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister and senior Congress leader Digvijaya Singh, reached Beenaganj in Guna district after passing through the Chachoda area.

Singh, who is 79 years old, continued walking with the group on Monday. The march reached Piplakhedi from Piplakhedi to Beenaganj, with villagers and local residents welcoming the pilgrims at several places with flower garlands and traditional ceremonies.

Raghogarh MLA Jaivardhan Singh and Mahamandaleshwar Computer Baba were also part of the yatra.

March passes through villages in Chachoda

The Monday leg of the journey began at Nayapura Jod. From there, Digvijaya Singh walked with the other pilgrims through Kalapipal, Neshkalan, Kundaliya, Meriyakhedi Khurd, Amaser, Gunjari and Naipuria Polas, along with several other villages.

Villagers welcomed the marchers in traditional ways along the route. People from different age groups, including the elderly and the young, came forward to greet the participants and encourage them.

The journey paused in the afternoon for food and rest. After the break, the group resumed the march and continued towards its next stop.

During the route, Digvijaya Singh visited the Ganesh temple at Dundala and offered prayers. The march then passed through Chachoda town before reaching Beenaganj in the evening.

Arrangements for the pilgrims’ food and overnight stay were made at Rambal Palace Garden in Beenaganj.

Jaivardhan Singh recalls his father’s earlier journeys

Speaking in Beenaganj, MLA Jaivardhan Singh referred to Digvijaya Singh’s earlier journeys and his determination. He said that age had never come in the way of his father’s resolve.

Jaivardhan Singh said that, with the blessings of Bhagwan Shri Raghau Ji Maharaj, Digvijaya Singh completed the Narmada Parikrama on foot at the age of 71.

He also said that at the age of 76, Digvijaya Singh joined Rahul Gandhi in the Bharat Jodo Yatra, which covered around four thousand kilometres from Kanyakumari to Kashmir.

Now, at the age of 79, Digvijaya Singh is walking from Ujjain to Ayodhya, Jaivardhan Singh said.

According to the Raghogarh MLA, the yatra is not merely a journey to cover kilometres. He described it as a means of taking ideas, faith and commitments to society.

Jaivardhan Singh also referred to the motto of the Raghogarh princely state, ‘सत बीसूत नीति अंश, राघव सेवक अग्नि वंश’. He said that following the path of truth and policy was the true service of Bhagwan Shri Raghau Ji Maharaj.

He greeted all the pilgrims taking part in the journey and wished for the success of its objectives.

Religious faith and public issues on the agenda

The proposed distance of the yatra is around 930 kilometres. Along with religious faith, the march is also giving importance to social and political issues.

Through the journey, Digvijaya Singh is speaking about taking the core principles of Sanatan Dharma, including truth, justice, compassion and harmony, to people across the region.

The yatra is also raising the issue of ensuring transparency in the use of donations and offerings made by devotees at temples and other religious places.

The demand for an impartial investigation into cases linked to donation theft and vote theft has also been included in the agenda of the march. The yatra is seeking that accountability be fixed in these matters.

Digvijaya Singh’s foot march is now moving ahead from Guna district. After the overnight stay in Beenaganj, the group is preparing to leave for its next stop.

The journey began in Ujjain and is planned to end in Ayodhya. The pilgrims are continuing their march towards the destination as part of the ‘Satya Sanatan Swabhiman Yatra’.
