Rajat Malhotra reported that the Janta Jagrook Samiti organised a sewing training felicitation ceremony in Chandausi on Sunday, as part of an initiative aimed at women’s empowerment and self-reliance. During the programme, 10 girls who had completed training were honoured with medals, certificates of appreciation and free sewing machines.

The ceremony was held at a local training centre under the aegis of the Janta Jagrook Samiti. The 10 girls who received the machines were from needy families. The organisers also wished them a bright future and said the initiative was intended to help them move towards self-reliance.

Lata Varshney, chairperson of the Nagar Palika Parishad Chandausi, attended the event as the chief guest. She inaugurated the programme by lighting a lamp.

Addressing the gathering, Lata Varshney described the initiative as a very good and inspiring effort. She said that it was extremely important for girls to become self-reliant in the present time. According to her, the Janta Jagrook Samiti’s effort to make girls independent and connect them with employment was certainly commendable.

She said that such efforts would promote women’s empowerment in society and help daughters stand on their own feet. Lata Varshney also praised the work of the committee and assured it of all possible support in the future.

Sana Mansoori, director of the training centre, said that the organisation had been running a free sewing training centre for the past 6 months. Girls from economically weaker sections were given detailed training in sewing and embroidery at the centre.

She said that after the training was completed, sewing machines were distributed to all the girls with the aim of making them self-reliant and connecting them with employment. The initiative was intended to help them start their own work from home and support their families.

Sana Mansoori said that the programme had been organised using the organisation’s own resources. She added that such events would also continue in the future. Women and girls would continue to be given training in sewing and embroidery, beauty parlour work and mehndi, among other areas.

Prem Grover, district president of the Vyapar Mandal, was present as the special guest. He said that such programmes should continue to be organised in society so that girls and women become more aware and develop the determination to achieve something.

Prem Grover said that when one woman becomes self-reliant, the entire family becomes self-reliant.

During the ceremony, happiness and confidence were clearly visible on the faces of the girls who were honoured. They thanked the committee and said that they would now use the machines to start a small business of their own.

The programme was successfully conducted by Prabhat Krishna. Shah Alam Mansoori, Umesh Shamsi, Sufiyan Shamsi, Ata Pasha, Deepa Joseph, Muskan, Avni Pal, Vineeta, Nishu Pal, Iqra, Rani, Taiba, Roshni Afreen, Mohammad Anas and Hannan were among those present. A large number of dignitaries and trainees also attended the ceremony.
