A woman died after a soil-laden dumper hit the motorcycle on which she was travelling with her husband on Anupshahr Road in Sambhal. The accident took place between Musapur and Raipur villages in the Kaila Devi police station area on Sunday night.
After the collision, the dumper driver fled with the vehicle. The incident has raised questions about the speed of dumpers linked to mining operations and the safety of people travelling on the road.
Soil-laden dumpers are seen moving on the roads throughout the day and night in the area. Residents are now concerned about the movement of these heavy vehicles and their speed. The deceased woman was identified as 36-year-old Alam Jahan, a resident of Saundhan Mohammadpur.
She was travelling on a motorcycle with her husband, Yasin, to Bismillah Hospital in Sambhal to see their nephew who had been born there. At around 7:30 pm on Sunday night, a soil-laden dumper approaching from behind hit their motorcycle.
The collision was so severe that Alam Jahan did not get a chance to recover. She died at the spot. Yasin, who was riding the motorcycle, did not suffer any injuries. The accident has brought renewed attention to the movement of mining dumpers in the Kaila Devi area.
Their movement and speed on the roads, both during the day and at night, have become a matter of concern. The safety of motorcycle riders and pedestrians has also emerged as an important issue amid the movement of heavy vehicles on rural roads.
Questions are being raised about who will control the speed of these dumpers and how effectively the rules are being monitored.
